The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes the interests of the Kingdom abroad. It coordinates and carries out Dutch foreign policy at its headquarters in The Hague and through its missions abroad. It is likewise the channel through which the Dutch Government communicates with foreign governments and international organisations.
The Ministry’s activities are (among others):
- to maintain relations with other countries and international organisations;
- to promote cooperation with other countries;
- to help developing countries accelerate their social and economic developme nt through international cooperation.
Sexual and reproductive health and rights is one of four priorities in the policy of the Netherlands Ministy of Foreign Affairs.
The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to be a large donor in 2012 and links the UAFC Joint Programme to relevant international donor agencies and institutions. In addition, the Dutch Ministry plays an important role to keep the female condom discussion on the political agenda.
