Through high level and local advocacy, UAFC and its partners work on a lasting change of the perception and knowledge on female condoms of politicians, policymakers and other decision makers. With the aim to have better policies, guidelines and budgets, in which female condoms feature as a standard method for Family planning and STI and HIV prevention.
For example in Cameroon, where the local advocacy organisation Fesade is working to convince the Cameroonian government to include female condoms in next years health budget.
In September 2013 Nigeria, EVA and ARFH held a well attended stakeholders meeting, together with SFH and the Nigerian UNFPA and MoH, to discuss how to increase access to female condoms in the Nigerian context.
The country programme Mozambique, has a large advocacy component, we work together with the renowned network of Forum Mulher, who is actively trying to change and improve access to female condoms in Mozambique.
But also at global fora, like UNAIDS PCB or international conferences, UAFC is present to put female condoms high on the agenda; by contributing to panels and workshops and by showcasing demand and the variety of female condoms.
