Cameroon is among the first countries in the Sub Sahara Africa region where studies have been conducted on accessibility and perception of female condoms. These studies show that in Cameroon, female condoms are accepted and demanded by different target groups.
Female condoms have a real appeal and potential, even while the product is not widely available and is still relatively unknown. Therefore, UAFC and it’s partners are paying special attention to communicating the benefits of female condoms to a large audience, in order to familiarise people with the product.
Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social (ACMS)
Our lead partner in Cameroon is the Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social (ACMS). This organisation has worked on female condom programming since 2002, although not on a large scale. ACMS is an experienced social marketing organisation, with vast experience with community-based organisations and youth groups, especially with regard to interpersonal communication.
