Donors of the UAFC Joint Programme
The UAFC Joint Programme has been able to make enormous progress thanks to the continued support of multiple donors. The initial start up grants in particular from the Hewlett Foundation have been crucial in the first set up of a programme Coordination and Governance structure. Follow up grants by the Hewlett Foundation and other donors made it possible to implement the full programme. High level advocacy by our donors also led to the fact that female condoms were put on the international (political) agenda. The long term and dedicated support ensured that the UAFC Joint Programme has become a well-known, legitimate and credible actor. The first phase was concluded with an end-of-term evaluation, the current UAFC strategic plan for 2012 – 2015 is also available.

Despite the work being done, female Condoms are still not available, accessible and affordable for all. Therefore, the UAFC Joint Programme is always interested to discuss possibilities of (partial) funding of our programme. Main programme components are ensuring the availability of female condoms by setting up a well functioning supply chain management, creating demand in specific country programmes by selling and distributing (both in public and private sectors) combined with education/information and communication activities to make sure usage and benefits of female condoms are well explained. Advocacy both at the global and country level is taking place to ensure that female condoms are integrated in budgets, policies and programmes of (local)governments, international agencies and implementers. To track results the UAFC Joint Programme has developed a sound MEL and contract management system.
Expansion of the programme
Currently, we are exploring ways to expand the programme to other countries. Countries that have potential and partners with a proven track record are Pakistan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Congo, Senegal, Burundi and Ghana.
